Ashok Arunachalam is a technology professional turned healthcare entrepreneur and co-founder of Greenview Medical Centre, a neighbourhood hospital that has served HSR Layout and the surrounding communities of Bengaluru for more than two decades.

With a professional background in information technology and IT security, Ashok brought to healthcare the perspective of a systems thinker rather than a clinician. Together with Dr Achi Ashok, he helped build Greenview around a relatively simple idea: that families should be able to find dependable, personal healthcare close to where they live.Over the years, his role has extended across the many elements required to build and sustain a community hospital—the people, systems, technology, infrastructure and processes that allow clinicians to focus on caring for patients.

In more than two decades at Greenview, Ashok has also watched HSR Layout transform from an emerging residential neighbourhood into one of Bengaluru’s largest and most diverse communities. Greenview has evolved with it. What began primarily as a place people came to when they needed medical care has increasingly become an institution with the opportunity to build relationships with families over many years.

Ashok believes that this is one of the particular strengths of a neighbourhood hospital: proximity can become continuity. When a hospital remains close and accessible to the community it serves, it can do more than treat individual episodes of illness. It can accompany people through different stages of their lives.

For Ashok, Sunshine is therefore part of a larger ambition for Greenview: to demonstrate what a modern neighbourhood hospital can become when clinical care, technology, continuity and a deeply personal understanding of its community come together

Along with her husband, a senior corporate leader, Dr. Achi created Greenview with one mission:

In a healthcare environment often dominated by commercial pressure, Dr. Achi remains committed to doing what’s right for every patient, every time.

Srivathsan Aparajithan has spent more than three decades working across different parts of the healthcare ecosystem—hospitals, health insurance, technology and entrepreneurship—with a continuing interest in one deceptively simple question: how do we make good healthcare easier for people to access and navigate?

His association with healthcare began at Apollo Hospitals in the early years of India’s emerging private hospital sector. Over the decades that followed, he worked at the intersection of healthcare delivery, insurance and technology, and built and advised businesses seeking to solve some of the practical problems that sit between patients, providers and payers.

A significant part of his more recent work has been with mission-driven and Catholic hospitals in India. These experiences strengthened his conviction that excellent clinical care alone is not enough. Families also need help understanding what care they need, finding their way through the system, preparing financially for it and staying engaged throughout the journey.

In 2024, he co-authored Mission Possible – Paving the Road to Universal Health Coverage, which explored practical pathways towards making healthcare more accessible and financially sustainable. His work since then has increasingly focused on translating those ideas from policy and strategy into models that can work on the ground.

Sunshine represents one such effort.

Working alongside the Greenview team and a younger generation of healthcare entrepreneurs, Srivathsan has helped shape Sunshine around the idea that pregnancy and childbirth should not be experienced as a sequence of disconnected medical appointments. A mother and her family should be able to navigate the entire journey—from pregnancy through childbirth and the early years of the child’s life—with greater confidence, preparedness and continuity.
